Student Pride is held in Brighton
Mar 14, 2009People from the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities are taking part in the fifth national Student Pride in Brighton.
It is the first time the city has hosted the event, which has previously taken place in Manchester and Oxford.
The focus point of the day is a Question Time-style debate featuring The Feeling singer Dan Gillespie Sells and Chris Bryant MP.
There will also be stalls, food, workshops, readings and live music.
Drag queen Jodie Harsh will be the compere at an event in the evening, featuring Frankmusik and a DJ set from BBC Radio 1 presenter Scott Mills.
More than 1,000 students from 18 universities have taken part in Student Pride in previous years.
The event also forms part of the wider week-long Brighton Winter Pride which takes place until Sunday 15 March.
