Essex: find out how to capitalise on Olympic opportunities

Oct 13, 2008
FIND out how to capitalise on Olympic opportunities at a breakfast meeting on October 17.

Organised by Essex County Council, the event will look at the current situation in Essex and the eastern region, in relation to the 2012 games, the online procurement portal, how to prepare to fill in the online pre-qualifying questionnaire, and information on how to secure wider public sector contracts.

The 2012 games will generate 7,000 direct contracts with a further 75,000 opportunities along the supply chain.

The Colchester meeting is one of a series being held throughout the county.

Stephen Castle, Essex County Council’s lead member on the 2012 Games, said: “These meetings are an opportunity for businesses to initially test the water and investigate the idea of being involved in the Olympic experience.

“We hope to answer questions and explain what it could mean being involved in the Olympic experience. I would urge anyone who owns or runs a local business to come along and find out more.”

The Colchester meeting, which is also open to Tendring businesses, will be held at the Weston Homes Community Stadium from 7.45am until 9.30am.
